First guest look!

Dear all, I am so excited to introduce you my first guest's makeup look by Alessandra, 33 years old GP from Milan

Alessandra told me that she actually does not wear makeup very often because she is always rushing around but every now and then, when she wants to look her best, she enjoys wearing purple shades like in the following two pictures where she wears a makeup look which works well both with and without glasses.

Makeup for glasses wearer

To create her look Alessandra used Bobbi Brown Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer in Extra Light as a foundation and Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque as an under eye concealer.
On her eyes she applied Bobbi Brown Cream shadow in Cool Lilac  as a base and then she blended both shades of Nars duo eyeshadow in Jolie Poupee up to the crease.
She defined her eyes with Nars Larger Than Life Long Wear Eye Liner in St. Marks Place and a swipe of  Clinique High Impact mascara in black.
To give her cheeks a healthy flush she dusted a bit of Nars powder blusher in Gaiety and she dressed her lips in Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Lilac.

Nars sheer lipstick in Venice

When I saw this shade in the shop I could not resist because it reminded me of the first lipstick I bought when I was 15. It is a sheer cool pale pink with sligtly frosty, silvery shimmer.
It is sheer but can be built up to offer more coverage. If I build it up it ends up looking too pale on my rather pigmented lips but I love wearing it as a see through wash of colour. The shade is also a tad cool for my colouring and in my opinion it would look more stunning on pale, cool skin toned ladies.
Here is a swatch on my lips.

Nars Gaiety vs Bobbi Brown Pale Pink

Here you are a comparison beetween two popular pink blushes: Nars Gaiety vs Bobbi Brown Pale Pink.

Nars Gaiety vs Bobbi Brown Pale Pink
Both blushes look bright pink in the pan, but Gaiety is lighter than Pale Pink. They are both mat and apply smoothly, with Nars being softer than Bobbi Brown.

On my skin Gaiety looks like a cotton candy pink whereas Pale Pink looks more vibrant and deeper.
Even though it is definetely easier to go overboard with Pale Pink than with Gaiety, you need to wait a few minutes after you have applied Gaiety to see its true colour develop and then decided whether to add more or not. In fact Gaiety goes on quite translucent to start with and then it seems to deepen up up once in contact with the warmth of your skin.
I personally find Gaiety to look better on cool skin tone or very pale ladies, whereas Pale Pink is beautiful on either cool or warm skin tones and goes well on bronzer too.

Raving about By Terry Crayon Khol Terrybly

I have never got so excited about an eye pencil before but ByTerry Crayon Khol Terrybly in 2-Brown Stellar is too good (though expensive) not to rave about it.
This is a gel eyeliner pencil which is super smooth and super easy to put on, it is smudgeable but does not budge once settled. It is waterproof but also easy to remove with a cleanser. The shade 2-Brown Stellar is a beautiful medium brown with subtle glitter (not chunky/gritty at all) which simply lits up your eyes. Highly recommended!

A bunch of...foundations

Bobbi Brown Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer, Clinique even better makeup, Dior nude skin glowing makeup, Bobbi Brown Skin foundation

Here are some foundations I am currently using (from left to right):  my all time favourite Bobbi Brown Oil free Tinted Moisturizer SPF15 (Extra light), Clinique even better makeup SPF15 (01 Alabaster), the newly reformulated Dior Nude skin-glowing makeup (020) and another all time favourite Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 (Warm Sand).

Why do I like them?

Bobbi Brown oil free tinted moisturizer SPF15
I love this tinted moisturizer because it offers good coverage for a tinted moisturizer, looks very natural and luminous (not too mat not too dewey), is long lasting, lightly moisturizes and protects the skin from UVA/UVB in one gesture. This is just perfection for my combination skin. Shade wise I chose the lightest colour even though I am not very fair because the shades in this formulation seem to run quite dark. I also tried the standard version but I did not like that one as much because it was too sheer and made me oily.

Clinique even better makeup SPF15
On my combination skin this foundation looks great and lasts long when worn on top of Clinique Laser Focus serum, otherwise it tends to melt away after a couple of hours on me. I like the fact that you can build it up to full coverage without looking cakey or darker. I often use it as a concealer on critic areas and under my eyes. Shade 01 Alabaster is a very fair neutral shade, not too pink, not too yellow.

Dior Nude skin-glowing makeup SPF15 - NEW FORMULATION
The thing I like most of this foundation is that it never clings onto pores or lines and I love the way it evens out my skin tone in a natural, luminous way when applied in one layer, but, when I start building it up for more coverage it tends to get darker and a bit cakey. I am not very fond of the alcohol in the third (or fourth?) position in the ingredients list either because it makes it a bit dehydrating. It dries quicly and is definetely longlasting. Shade 020, a fair neutral shade, looked like the best match for my skin tone (010 was too light and 021 too yellow) when swatched in the shop, but it is in fact a bit too peachy.

Bobbi Brown Skin foundation SPF15
this is an old favourite of mine, which makes my skin look better in a natural way. It offers slightly more coverage than the tinted moisturizer and it is quite long lasting on me if worn on bare skin. In fact it is quite moisturizing and from this point of view I prefer this to the Dior foundation. The only drawback is that sometimes it pools into pores after a few hours. I alternate between shades Sand and Warm Sand.

My first look - 5 minutes natural makeup

Hi all,
here is my every day, quick natural makeup to look my best in no time before leaving the house to take my children to school...

Quick natural makeup look

I swear by Bobby Brown Oil Free tinted moisturizer (Extra Light) to even out my skin tone & provide sun protection in one step and a dusting of Chanel compact powder in Clair to set my base.
Then I love putting on my cheeks a bit of colour like Bobbi Brown powder blush in Desert Pink.
On my eyes I swipe a sheer and luminous eyeshadow like Nars Abyssinia and if I have got enough time I define them with By Terry Crayon Khol Terrybly in 2-Brown Stellar before coating my eyelashes with mascara. I am currently using Gemma Kid i-define volumising mascara which I found as a freebie in a magazine.
On my lips I wear a sheer color like Nars Pago Pago (limited edition) or Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Baby.

Have not I forgotten something? The under eye concealer!
In the picture I used a dab of Clinique even better foundation in 01 alabaster which covers well, does not crease and looks very natural under my eyes.
I use Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque when I want more coverage.

What do you wear for a quick makeup look?
